with love

Welcome to the Adventures of Thriftgirl! I work at a thrift store, and just love to browse antique and secondhand shops in general. This blog will be an outlet for sharing my thrifty passions. :D

One of my responsibilities at the store is to make sure the main showcase looks holiday-appropriate. I love decorating in a romantic, Victorian style, and Valentine's Day was the perfect excuse! Layering lace and doilies was especially fun.

The handpainted egg cups were my favorite. But I had to be honest with myself and realize that I'd never use them, so they went to a better home.

Goblets with peachy pink stems! So elegant.

The tea set here was so adorable. We also had another set, identical but in yellow.

This rose is over three weeks old. I found it in a trash can at a gas station. I happened to look inside for some reason, and noticed this perfectly fresh, pretty rose just lying on top. So I took it to work with me, snipped the stem, plopped it in some water and promptly forgot all about it until yesterday when I snapped the picture. The petals were still soft and blushing, and still fragrant! Amazing. Roses that I actually take care better care of don't last that long, so this is kind of magical.

Maybe that rose just really wanted to make it to Valentine's Day. :)
